Many of us walk through life feeling that there is more out there. We search and long for that “more” in our lives. Sometimes we feel lonely, unwanted, rejected and unloved. So we try and fill that void with things that are temporary. We may hang out with the wrong group of people just because they are fun. We may drink to much, do drugs, over eat, shop to much. Whatever it is, we do it to try and fill the void in our lives that we so desperately want to be filled. We fill it with a false satisfaction, a false image of what we truly need and want in our lives.
You see from the time we were knit together in our mothers womb, God placed HIS LIGHT, His love and the longing for Him in each of us. As we grow and experience pains, hurts and disappointments that light or flame that was given to us slowly begins to dim out. We desperately try to reignite the flame with idols and things of the world to give us a temporary high. We try “experiences” to heat the flame that once burned so brightly and we ignore the reality that we are trying to light a fire with the wrong match. You see God created us. When He intricately wove us together in our mother’s womb, He placed deep within our souls the burning light of HIM.
If you are in a season where life has thrown you curve ball after curve ball and that light that used to burn so brightly within your life has been slowly dimming out, I want to remind you that filling those voids with the things of the world will not relight the flame. God and God alone is the only one that can reignite that burning flame deep within the cellars of your soul. God is hope. God is life and God is the only light that will continuously guide your way.
If you are in a place of desperation. A place where you feel unnoticed, unwanted, unloved and you are desperately crying out for someone to see past the masks and into the the shattered pieces of your soul, I want you to know Jesus sees you. He hears you and He will meet you wherever you are so He can breathe LIFE back into your collapsing lungs.
Breathe in the name of Jesus today. Breathe in His name until you collapse in His arms as His shalom peace washes over you. Seek Him. Trust where He is leading you. Allow Him to embrace you and allow Him to love you like you have never been loved before. Remember He created you. He knows your inmost being. God and God alone is the only one that can fill the longings, the loneliness, the brokenness and redeem it all. The things of this world are temporary and will only give you a temporary fix.
Today, fix your eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of your faith. Be still in His presence and ask God to meet you in the unknown. Ask Him to meet you where you are weary, where you have lost hope and where you you are barely hanging on. Ask Him to meet you in the temptations and ask Him to ignite the flame that once burned so brightly within your life. Ask Him to search your heart and ask Him to fill you with His overflowing, unwavering, unfailing love.
My prayer for you today is that you surrender all of you to all of Him. All you have to do is say yes to HIM and your life will be forever changed. Trust me, I am a living and walking example of this. I am not saying life gets easier but what I am saying is that it is sweeter when you have God uplifting you with His righteous right hand, guiding your steps, and loving you through.
