A few weeks ago one of Jace’s preschool teachers reached out to Jordyn to see if she would be willing to paint her a blue butterfly.
Her dad was an avid swimmer and just went home to be with the Lord. Right before he passed away her dad had a dream of butterflies flying everywhere. Her heart was to have a visual picture that represented the water (blue) and the butterfly (the image he saw before he died).
When I presented this to Jordyn, she was hesitant, as she had never painted a butterfly before. This past week Jordyn was faced with a severe infection in her hands due to her eczema outbreak. She chose in the midst of her pain, to bless Mrs Shelly by picking up her paint brushes and tap into her creative side.
Mrs. Shelly stopped by this morning to pick up these paintings. One for her and one for her sister. God’s presence was so overwhelming in that moment of the painting exchange that tears began to stream down Mrs. Shelly’s face. Truth be told, we all began to sob. Mrs. Shelly was in awe of the paintings and how Jordyn beautifully created something sooo precious to her heart. However, she was blessed that in the midst of Jordyns pain, she painted these masterpieces. She used the parts of her body that literally HURT her most and used them to create a painting that profoundly blessed someone else. She took her own pain and used it to heal a small piece of someone else’s pain. Y’all, my mommas heart could burst.
I have taught my children to always have their peripheral vision open. That even in the midst of our own pain, there is always someone else out there that is deeply hurting and needs to feel and embrace the love of Jesus. Jordyn walked this out so perfectly. She wasn’t prompted, coerced or told she would be given a reward for doing this. She did this because this is WHO SHE IS. She walked out John 3:30, “He must become greater; I must become less.”
She gets what it means for God to be glorified in and through all things. She gets what it means to become selfless. She gets what it means to come alongside someone who is hurting and grieving, being the hands and feet of Jesus. You see, because she was obedient to what God was calling her to do, in the midst of blessing someone else in their storm, she was blessed by doing what heals her own hurting soul.
I have no words other than these. Today I was witness to the power of God. I saw two hearts bond and two hearts find healing. He is good. He is faithful. “He is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit” (Pslam 34:18). He uses ordinary people that struggle in their own walk to be a light of hope in someone else’s storms. He sends His angles to be the hands and feet of Jesus. He redeems, He resurrects and as John 11:35 states, “Jesus wept.” I firmly believe that as we were all crying today, He wept alongside of us. He hears the deep cries of our souls, He meets us in our despair and He breathes hope back into our desolate souls. Lean into Him today. He will grab ahold of you and He will bring your dying soul back to life. All you need to do is have faith and trust. He will do the rest 🦋
Praying a multitude of blessings over you today and know you are LOVED
